Dear Mr. Obama.
I have just read about the White House declaring that my country, Venezuela, is not a threat to the United States of America. Well, let me tell you I'm disappointed.
After all efforts that the Venezuelan government has made to be considered at least as a very disturbing opponent to your country. It is not possible they have not succeeded.
Back in time when Chavez was the president, I remember he consistently used to call american people "Gringos de Mierda" which could be translated as "Shitty Gringos" and never lost the opportunity to blame your government, citizens and companies for all the problems that Venezuela was going through. But the Venezuelan government is not a threat to your country due to the speeches and cursing of our representatives, but for their achievements in money laundry, drug smuggling and terrorist supporting against U.S. welfare.
When you, Mr. Obama declared on march 9th, 2015 "a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States posed by the situation in Venezuela", I really thought you understood the threat that my government represented not only to the U.S., but to the entire world, and I really thought that you were strongly decided to stop this terrorist, drug dealing organization that is entitled to all the resources of my country and will still be until a new government takes their hands away from this unlimited power source, which is a difficult thing to accomplish through general elections due to their control over the process.
Please, note that even admitting that the Venezuelan government is a threat to your country, It does not mean under any circumstance that the U.S. shall declare war to the entire country and even more, you shall be cautious to implement sanctions to protect your country (and mine) that will only affect those implicated in the corrupt aforementioned organization. As you may have noticed, not all threats can be eliminated using military force and not all Venezuelans are part of this mafia.
Why am I disappointed?. Well it's easy. Now that I see your National Security Official - Ben Rhodes declaring the exact opposite of your statement, and insisting that the content of your Executive Order was a general template used only to investigate some detailed cases of money laundry (implying that you signed the document without really reading it), I have to say: it is completely confusing and unconvincing. First of all because of the implications of signing a paper without reading it and second, because all considerations that lead you to place your signature in that document.
That change on the White House's speech is clearly a reaction to some event between March 9th and April's 7th declarations. I honestly don't know what were your reasons, I suppose that other countries with interests in Venezuelan soil like China or Russia could have influenced, and their weight on your country's economy is heavier than the threat the Venezuelan governmafia represents to it, so Venezuelans will have to wait for their captors to become wealthier and more aggressive to both Venezuelans and foreigners so the american president (whoever (s)he is by then) decide it is time to act.
As your intelligence institutions might brief you, I'm not a journalist, nor a politically affiliated activist, but a Venezuelan engineer with a personal blog dedicated to tell the world what I think and feel about the political, social and economical situation in my country. So feel free to reply to: villalba_daniel@hotmail.com if you think it's worth.
God Bless Venezuela and the entire world.
Sincerely,
D.
